The Northeast region is a group of eight states which includes Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura. While visiting each of these states, you will come across hills, snow peaked mountains, jungles, waterfalls, hidden islands, among many other hidden unexplored places!

Sela Pass

It is the high altitude mountain pass which is located in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. It is snow covered mostly throughout the year. This place has an amazing view and Sela lake is also there to visit.

Majuli Island

Located on the river Brahmaputra, Majuli Island is the largest river island in the world! It is a home for many migratory birds and host several festivals too. Regular birdwatching tours are held and during sunset, it has a beautiful view!

Umananda or Peacock Island

While the largest river island lies in Assam, did you know that the smallest river island of the world also lies in North east? If you get lucky while visiting this place, you might even get to see the golden langoor, an endangered species.

Vantawng Waterfall, Mizoram

This is located in Vanva river near Thenzawl, Aizawl. It is the 13th highest waterfall in India and is known for its handloom products.

Mawlynnong Meghalaya

There is a reason why it is called, ‘Halfway to Heaven’. This place has living roots bridges!  These are constructed from bamboo and are strong enough to carry the weight of people. It is also known as Asia’s cleanest village.

Walong is located in Anjaw district and is well known for it’s hot water spring and Namti Valley. People come from many places to take a dip in the medicinal water of the hot water spring.

Shillong, is known as the ‘Scotland of the East’. It is surrounded by beautiful waterfalls everywhere! You should visit the Elephant falls, Ward’s lake, Mawphlang sacred forest and the Lumping Deng Island.

Dzukou Valley

This is also known as the Valley of flowers and is located on the border of Nagaland and Manipur.  There is an ice cold stream that flows through the valley. The view up there makes up for the difficulties you face while reaching this place!

Sangti Valley

It is near Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. One should visit the apple and kiwi farms.  It also boasts of hot springs! This valley is famous for the rare black necked cranes which breed in the valley.
