A lot of girls ask me how to make everyday outfits noteworthy and get their look on point. Well, the answer to that is all about balance. Simplicity is good, but it doesn’t make you stand out. On the other hand, nobody likes an overkill of bling. It is important to strike a balance and stay somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.
One way of doing this is to pick ONE STAR ACCESSORY to complement your outfits, be it a pair of chunky earrings, a classy watch, OTT reflectors or a studded clutch – the list is endless.
Spring Summer ’18 has brought neon shoes back with a bang. What better star accessory for your outfit than a pair of eye-catching fluorescent sneakers?
Well, I recently purchased this gorgeous pair of neon green kicks from THE best brand in the world – ZARA. No surprises there! Like every other cosmo girl, I love Zara more than Dean Winchester loves pie. (Trust me, that is saying something.)
Without any further ado, here are five unique ways to style the neon babies and SLAY!
1. Going shopping with the gurls
A loose linen shirt buttoned to the top and tucked inside high-waisted hot pants can never fail you. Club this outfit with a semi-ethnic satchel and your perfect summer look is ready!
Alternative look: Wear a ganji/camisole inside and you can even leave the shirt unbuttoned and untucked.
Linen shirt with printed pockets: Aeka
Denim hot pants: Only
Dried flower earrings: Alankaara
2. Saturday night
Sneakers can never not do justice to a little black dress. Pair them up and you are all set to hit the club, minus the physical (and metaphorical) pain that comes with heels. You can always wear golden hoops and a choker to amp up the charm. After all, clubbing is all about looking your best.
Pro tip: Leave the buckle on the choker in the front instead of letting it hide under your hair.
Little black shirt dress: Zara
Suede satchel: Zara
Buckle choker: Aldo
Hoops: Forever New
3. Music festival
To ace the music festival look, all you need is a crop top and high-waisted mom jeans. For those who are unaware, mom jeans are an even more chill (read “loose”) version of boyfriend jeans. Make sure you take a decently spacious satchel to carry essentials for an entire festival day.
Added accessory: Add a solid-coloured cap to the ensemble. Don’t worry, it won’t steal the shoes’ thunder, but will only enhance your “chill quotient”.
Official Pepsi spaghetti crop top: Zara
Two-toned mom jeans: Zara
Cap: Forever New
4. Sunday brunch
If you’re trying to put together an elegant outfit for one of those brunches where you end up consuming more sangria than the actual food, a plain and simple jumpsuit with a belt can do wonders.
Rookie advice: Make sure the accessories complement the jumpsuit well in terms of colour.
Jumpsuit: Marks & Spencer
Woven satchel: Zara
Hand-painted earrings: Kapaas Kolkata
Reflector sunglasses: Aldo
5. Werk werk werk
One of my personal favorite strategies is to mix ethnic and Western wear. I often wear kurtas with jeans to work. Well, this kurta has long slits on the front and the sides, so you can see the beautiful embroidery along the length of the denim.
Hairstyle: Go for braids, they are hands down the classiest hair-do.
Linen kurta with pockets: Westside
Embroidered jeans: Only
Parrot earrings: *Clueless; got them at an exhibition*
Beaded clutch: Zara
