Indian Premier League (IPL), the name itself carries a great essence in the business of cricket. It is a venture which surfaced loads of great memories throughout the 11 years. But when we talk about the good memories it simply seems obvious to talk about the bad memories as well. In its 11 years time span, IPL acknowledged a ton of record-breaking performances along with few embarrassing performances as well.
Just because the platform provided by IPL has become so big that anything goes on over the platform catches the eyeballs. The cricket carnival has always been more than just T20 cricket. The games in the IPL have seen things that never happened in the history of the cricket. Players in their colourful jerseys play every match as if it were their last match.
Lowest score by any IPL side
The history books will always remember the match between RCB and KKR where Royal Challengers Banglore while chasing a target of 132 were bowled out at a total of just 48 runs. The star studded side was crashed into everything. Three players went for a duck and none of the rest could get a double-digit score. The score is till date the lowest in the history of IPL. RCB faced a shameful debacle and lost the match by 82 runs.
Expensive over in the history of IPL
Never though it could ever happen in the match of IPL. This game of cricket is more about stopping the opposition from scoring the runs than scoring the runs itself. It was 2011 IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kochi Tuskers. A modest target of 126 was on board and Chris Gayle launched his destructive best in the third over of the innings smashing Prasant Parameswaran for an unbelievable 37 runs in a single over.
Most runs given by a bowler
Unfortunately it is the most experienced test bowler of recent times in India Ishant Sharma who conceded whopping 66 runs in just 4 overs playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has the record of a spell which is not only the most in the IPL but also one of the worst bowling performances in the history of T20 matches.
Most extras in a match
It was simply bizarre as the side which includes bowler like Dale Steyn conceded the highest extras in the game of cricket. Yes, you heard it right, Deccan Chargers hold the record of gifting most extras to its opponents, bowled in a match (28) against KKR in 2008.
Most losses in the IPL
It has always been the most disturbing memories to digest for Delhites as their side has been losing matches since the beginning of IPL. When it comes to losing matches in IPL, nobody feels the pain better than Daredevils. The franchise bears the record of losing most matches (82) in 10 seasons. Delhi has also never reached the final of IPL.
