With Indian Premier League 2018 on its rolling end, all the teams are on their toes to leave their mark in the last phase of this tournament. Ahead of the play-offs battle, the teams are on their attempts to gather and sustain momentum heading into the business end. Only so far SRH has managed to succumb the pressure in a perfect way that they can see themselves as favorites winning the title this year.

On the other end, CSK and KXIP kind of having a mixed run in the tournament as their momentum is kind of similar to each other. Kolkata Knight Riders, sitting on the fourth spot, have failed to string more than two wins in a row. With the recent setback against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai, KKR now eyeing on at least three wins from their next four games to separate themselves from the chasing pack in the lower half of the table.

KKR & their shortcomings;

KKR with their next four games are against the teams occupying the top 3 slots will be very crucial. Also, KKR doesn’t want to mess up with a situation where the team would be looking at their qualification hopes hanging until the last game. Hence to avoid this the clash against MI becomes crucial.

While other top 3 teams are seemingly placing themselves in the requisite momentum, KKR got stuck with the same old problems. They are yet to find a solution to their powerplay woes with the ball. Robin Uthappa has looked in exceptional touch, but no innings of substance just yet have been frustrating. While he did convert his start against MI to score a half-century, he was dismissed at a crucial stage which turned the tide.

It is to be noted that KKR has exceptionally improved their death bowling to pull games back. Against CSK, they gave away just 87 in the last ten overs, while giving away 86 against MI in the same period.

Chris Lynn, in his pre-match press conference, spoke about how desperately KKR has been eyeing on to get their momentum back. He also expressed that they don’t want to end up in a situation where every game would be lurking in a do or die situation. It could just be that desperation that might do the trick for KKR against a team that has always had the better of them.
