Kolkata Knight Riders have already been making a statement in the IPL 2018 by doing justice to their tagline- “Korbo Lorbo Jitbo Re”. They have already steered past the initial hurdle through beating Rajasthan Royals by 25 runs on Wednesday in the IPL 2018 eliminator match to enter the qualifier 2. KKR is now all set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a place in the final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, the limelight of their successive victories seems very low as compared to the heaping praises for the pacer M. Prasidh Krishna by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling coach and former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak on Thursday. He was of the view that he is one of those talents unearthed by the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is making a name for himself.
The wonder boy Prasidh Krishna:
On the very eve of KKR’s Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Friday Streak told to reporters- “That 18th over was world class on Wednesday and it reminds me of guys like Jasprit Bumrah who came on the scene doing exactly what he is doing. Prasidh is one of those names IPL has unearthed and he is making a name for himself,”
Prasidh finished the 18th over with only 3 runs that too accompanied by the wicket of Stuart Binny to help KKR beat Rajasthan Royals by 25 runs in the Eliminator. He ended the match with figures of 1/28 in four overs.
Streak also praising Prasidh have gone mouthful of his unique strategies- “He has been outstanding. He has brought a new dimension to the team, not just his pace but also his height. The most pleasing thing to see is how much of a thinking cricketer he is. He is really being smart and using his options and variations well. He is using the double bluffs. He is not allowing the batsman to look at the field and know what ball is coming next. With all of that, you still got to execute your skills and he is doing that. His confidence is growing and he has been fantastic,”
The replacement of U-19 World Cup winning pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti just ahead of the season has been impeccably placed as Prasidh, 22, since his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians keep leaving his mark on every game he has been playing till Wednesday. At the same time he has been keeping a magnificent stat on his back to represent him. He has scalped 10 wickets in six matches with best figures of 4/30 against Sunrisers in a must-win last league game for the purple brigade.
The clash of titans- KKR vs SRH
Meanwhile, Streak too realised the fact that in-form Sunrisers’ skipper Kane Williamson is no difference from any other good batsman who needs to be bowled in the right areas and to get his wicket you need to create chances-“Kane’s playing well at the moment. Sometimes people forget to just bowl good balls at him. He is one of those players who respects a good ball and so it’s not to be intimidated and go away from the plan. He is like any other good player. If you bowl in the right areas you will create chances. But at the moment, he is picking lengths and line really well so your margin of error will be very tight. Our bowlers are executing skills a little better.”
Streak also believes that despite the fact being the SRH has been the favorites because of their magnificent cricketing display but still KKR on the other side having advantage of home support and their winning streaks while SRH has been on their lossing streak since four of their last games has an upper hand.
